The Karadashian Krew Descends Upon NYFW to Watch Little Sis Kylie on the Katwalk

So, I shared a fashion news story on Kylie Jenner’s katwalk Kontroversy a few days ago. So, today I decided to share this follow-up story. Enjoy! And as always, I love hearing from you. Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts.

Last night punky pop singer Avril Lavigne showed her Abbey Dawn collection of “Music is My BF” tees, “Hell Yeah” wedge booties, and “Heartcore” dresses at the Metropolitan Pavilion as part of Style 360′s collection of shows during New York fashion week.

But the show wasn’t about the mall-rat-ready clothes. It was about the Kardashian’s. Kylie Jenner, 14, one of the youngest members of the Kardashian crew walked in the show (despite the CFDA’s guidelines suggesting models be at least 16), and most of her famous family came out to support her. Kourtney, Kim, and Kim’s new husband Kris Humphries were all there. So was Kylie’ half-brother Brody Jenner, who also happens to date the “designer.” (I guess music isn’t Avril’s BF?).

Once the paparazzi scrum receded and the flashbulbs stopped popping, the Kardashian’s cheered their sister on like any normal family as she walked the runway. They screamed, took photos, and when she closed the show, threw a bouquet at her. And when the show was over, their security swooped in, and the family was escorted backstage, trailed by paparazzi–a not-normal family once again.

Here are some photos of Kylie on the catwalk and her famous family.

  1. When you stated in your last comment to me, that “the publicity isn’t even focused on the clothes, but the clothes don’t sell themselves”.. is completely right. The cloths look mediocre at best so I get why she needed this to try to revive her business. Anything for publicity.. but somehow I’m so saturated with it here in NYC that it doesn’t even phase me nor move me anymore. Not even the Kardashian Sears line moves me to purchase lol.

  2. Hey Kay,

By using a young model and creating “controversy” throughout fashion news portals was the only way anyone would show interest. Of course, by getting Kim Kardashian’s half-sister, people are undoubtably going to talk. However, this story is sure to loose its sizzle sooner rather than later.

Living in New York, there must be so much happening around you, I guess you have gotten conditioned to it now. New York Fashion Week is amazing and there are so many great designers unveiling their spring collection.

As for the K’s Sears line, we’ll just have to wait and see how heavily it will be promoted. As their fame just keeps on climbing.

  3. From the photos, I’m not sure that this is a “designer collection” appropriate for NYFW. Looks more like the straight to the department store variety. Does Jessica Simpson send her line down a runway? I would hate to see an increase in celebrity lines demeaning the idea of clothing design as an art form and craft.
